Registration is now open. Entering the competition is simple, but involves several steps:
1. Click on the 'registration' tab on the menu at the side of this page.
Fill in the registration form, ensuring you specify:
- A contact name, phone number and mobile phone number (in case of last minute changes)
- An email address that will be functional until April 2010. All communication will be by email. Please make sure it is checked frequently
- The region within which you wish to be placed
- The number of teams you are entering - 1-3
- Whether you would be willing to host a regional round or workshop: please bear in mind that we rely on schools across the country to provide the venues for the regional
stages of the competition. Hosting is an excellent way to boost a debating society, as it allows a much larger number of students to experience a British Parliamentary debate before competing themselves
- Whether or not you would like to purchase a copy of the Oxford Union Society Guide to Schools' Debating at £7.99 per copy (incl. P&P)
2. You should recieve an immediate confirmation response on screen
You will later recieve an email with a detailed confirmation of your data. This will act as a guarantee of your successful registration, pending payment.
3. Bursaries
If you would like to apply for a bursary, please fill in this form.
5. In the meantime, send a cheque as payment for entry.
- £36 per team (41 Euros).
- Add £7.99 per guidebook ordered
- Payable to the Oxford Union Society (this is really important)
- With your school's name written on the back
- Post to:
4. Await a payment confirmation email.
If you have not received payment confirmation email within
two weeks of submitting your application, email
convenor@oxfordschools.org.uk to check the status of your entry.
We will make contact with regard to the arrangements for your workshop and regional round after your cheque has been processed.
